Happy new Year !!!

First layout of the year finished, and has a very Winters feel :O) Inspiration from the Scrapology challenge for December F is for Filter Paper.... i used the filter paper to make the leaves on the layout, painted with my fave pearl paint that makes everything shine xxxx

Birthday Card

Hi there all, just thought that I would show you a card I made yesterday.

I used bits an bobs that I had in the craft stash and just scraps, the little squares are made by inking a piece of white card with a few different distress inks and then sponging over with pearl paint ( I used the one in the total papercrafts December kit... it is lush!) then when the pain was dry i cut into 1.5" squares and embossed with a few different texture folders and just loved the result.

really easy to make and with stuff you probably have... bargain

following on from the previous post with a Christmas theme here are the pages designed for the Total papercrafts Christmas kit.... so much paper in the kit!!!! am in the process of making a project with the left overs ( will show when its done x)

Had to go to the dickens festival as was a little short of Christmas photos! Had a fab fab time and some great picks.......

Hi there,

well the festive season is just around the corner so its time to prepare... Christmas shopping, card making, cakes and puddings to stir, and of cause you just have to have an advent calender (preferably with chocolate)

So here is a little tutorial for making your very own choccie filled advent calender

I used plain and patented card stock, 24 brads, ribbon, a pearl pen (liquid pearls or any 3d paint) 3 lengths of willow, 24 chocolate balls, and 24 Christmas themed quotes and scriptures)

I cut 48 star shapes with my Cricut from the card useing the SCAL program the shape came from basic shapes on the PC and i managed to get 9 on a 12x12 page

I cut the tags using an original sizzix die (mini tags) and used the pearl pen to put on the numbers for the calender...

take two contrasting stars and join together with a brad in the center - this is so that when the box has been opened you can turn the shapes to make an 8 pointed star to hang in its place.

Take each pair and punch a small hole in the end of each point to thread the ribbon through

to make these into pyramid boxes use a ruler to get a clean straight fold between each point.....

put your quote and chocolate in the box and tie in place with the ribbon...

I used 3 lengths of willow and twisted into a small ring to hang the boxes from, they would work equally well hung on a Christmas tree or placed in a dish on the table, the choice is yours x

...as promised the photos of completed mini album, all the pics are of a friends home. I will be off to Spain to stay with them for a holiday very soon and thought this would be a nice thank you gift to take out to them.

I Loved making it, started at the Debden weekend and I have finished off over the last few weeks. I feel a few more of these to come :O)

Hi there, yet again I need to apologise for lack of posting !!!

so here are the pages that i completed on the retreat last month, and a bug thanks to Karen for organising a wonderful weekend of fun and relaxation x

This page took most of the weekend, I used my most precious photos of Dad. Missing him so much right now as its coming up to 5 years. Feels like I have had a little cry every day over the last few weeks, just need to keep on holding it together xx And can you spot the huge mistake i made on this one????

These papers are so lovely and such beautiful soft shades.

I made the background with a craft works stencil / mask and some stampin up ink pads, may be went a bit OTT with the bling !!! a few touches of glossy accents and some bakers twine.

Hi there,

Had a fab time at the "finish your pages day" and I'm sure it will surprise some of you that I actually did something rather than sitting their chatting!!! lol !!!! mind you I didn't push it.... managed to finish one I had already started and one from start to finish :O)

For this one I one used Websters Pages Life's portrait papers, a bit of cutting out and some hand stitching.

The papers on this one are Melisa Frances and MME. I made the roses with Spellbinders Rose Creations Dies and some scraps from the box, more hand stitching and fake pearls with a Viva Decor pearl pen

Will try not to leave it so long next time

Three Little Books...

....for three very special young ladies :O)

I spent a few days last week with the lovely Steph and had some much needed crafting time, life seams so busy at present and it feels like I never get time to craft right now (so maybe I shouldn't sit and do nothing when I go to scrap club every fortnight!!! lol!)

Inspiration has been on a bit of a low and being with Steph really gave me the lift I needed, just a shame that Marie couldn't be there too - but it did mean I could sneak in and rummage in her craft stash!!!! - promise i put it all back (apart from the stuff i used that is he he xx you know you love me Marie xxx

As well as being good fun I did manage to produce something!

Some very dear friends of mine are soon moving to Canada and I will miss them all very much, especially their three beautiful daughters, I have seen them grow up to become lovely young ladies and I wish them the very best in this wonderful new opportunity.

So they can record all there memories of home I have made them each a book to fill with photos and messages from their friends to take with them to their new home. Girls I love you and will miss your smiles and i wish you all the very best that life has to give xx

This first one is for CJ.

Based on an idea from Karen at total papercraft, each page has a mini book of its own so there is tons of space for all your prom photos CJ. I hope you like it, when i finished this one i really didn't want to give it away! lol

The next one is for Jessica, I found some metal disc monograms that i have had forever and thought it would make a great closure for the book, hope you like it Jess x

And last but by no means least, this one is for Isabelle. I will really miss your smile love, your such a sweet girl.

all the books were made with Basic Grey papers of various ranges - Isabel's was two scoops, Jess' Green at Heart (I think!), and CJ's I think was blush. Bits and bobs from my stash and some from Marie's (love you :O)

Just finished a word book for a friend, she wanted something to celebrate becoming an Auntie for the first time.

The pages were cut with the Cricut and the papers were some old stampin up ones, I used a few of the new Stampin up bits I got recently - the tiny tag stamps and punch and Sweet Summer stamp set.

A Mini A Month...

Well new year new project, Karen over at What's this then.. is running a year long project to make a mini book a month... brave girl!!

Well as I can never say no to a mini book I have just had to sign up for this one, and what's really cool is that it is supposed to be done using only the stash you already have!!!... will help with the "spending Less on Stash" resolution then?

the first challenge for the January book is to make a few flowers ... think I went a bit OTT !!!

Well the craft room has been busy this last week or two but not able to show you as its all top secret!!!

I have been working on classes for TP crop and samples/Classes for the Indigo Mill retreat. I have had some feed back from the person who asked for the HANDS Book in the previous post and she said she loved it and has lots of friends who would like me to make things for them too.

here is another book made for an 18th birthday present...

Well long time no blog yet again... I do try, but life just gets in the way.

The holiday in Spain is a dim and distant memory now... but was fun while it lasted and I do still have some Spanish cheese ham and chorizo in the fridge...yumm!

have been working flat out on crafting lately to fill a few orders for friends....

This book was for the lovely CJ to take to her friend in Canada- they met the last time CJ was there and I think they will be friends for life... she loved the book and hopefully her friend will too.

I used BG papers and quite a bit of glitter!!!

As promised a couple of recent layouts, the first one was Karen's class at the crop a couple of weeks back. with a great technique for making the paper flowers

the second was a kit from the crop but I did my own design with it and used the pocket that the rub-ons came in to hide a fold out mini book with more photos on.

Have also been working on a mini book or two but not had time to take photos of them yet but will do later xx

Studio Challenge...

the challenge was to find something from around the house to use as a mask and do some spraying!!

I used a fork and sprayed over it a few times onto white card stock and then cut into petal shapes to make the flower, also used a few buttons on the page to mask before spraying the background, the flower vines are hand drawn and then cut out... so another layout with just some white card and a few scraps ... think I bight get used to this scraping on a budget :O)

Well as today is my birthday I thought the best way to celebrate was a layout all about cake!!!!

This layout was started at a Total Papercraft crop day a couple of years ago...yes years, I know that is a very poor show !!! Each layer opens out to reveal the cake the recipe and where it comes from.

The papers are a kit from Chatter Box, and all the cakes are very yummy !!!!!

This weeks crafting ....

Just finished this layout for a challenge over on " The Studio" ... Challenge to use old and new stash, so I have made the three large flowers with some scraps from the box and have used flowers I have had for I don't know how long and some true vintage buttons that I inherited from Granny along with some new buttons. For the new I have used some Prima papers given to me by the lovely Steph back in June.

Well it has been a bit non stop on the job hunting and filling in application forms for the last couple of weeks so not to much crafting been going on here! But I have managed a couple of bits and bobs.....

Willow flower... not quite a basket but its a start!!!!

On the subject of the job... went for a care job on Friday for some work until things get sorted, the lovely lady interviewing me was a bit concerned that I was more qualified than her!!!!! She said "you know this is a care workers position don't you?" and I assured her that I did and would love the position!!!!

When I am teaching care workers I some times hear them say... "I'm just a care worker"... it really gets my back up!!! There is no such thing as 'JUST' a care worker... it is such an important job and NOT anyone can do it, If it was your mum or dad or child that needed a care worker you would want someone very special to do it, not just any Tom, Dick, or Harry that just walked off the street!!!!!

Any way... got a letter this morning to offer me the job, so looking forward to doing some 'hands on' care again for a bit.

Finally finished a Mini book I started so long ago I cant remember!! I think that it sat there for ages as it was very beach themed and when Chris and I go away its normally in land !

but last year for our anniversary we went to Cornwall and spent the hot sunny days on the beach at Marizion, and had so much fun we are going back in a few weeks... cant wait xx

Having a lazy weekend - eaten too many hot cross buns yesterday and now getting ready to eat too much chocolate tomorrow!!!!

So in between the buns and chocolate I have managed to do some scrapping !

This page was using the kit from Exhall crop last week, I know its more of a spring theme paper but I thought it didn't go bad with the winter picks x

This one I started ages ago but didn't get round to posting the finished page..

And some of you may have seen this one, i mad it as a demo for the fab new Silkies that Indigo Mill has in stock, all the colour on this page was added using ink, paint, and mica powders...Fab fab fab new products.

Scrap your favorite recipe

I love making muffins but it doesn't help the diet very much :O(

So I thought the next best thing would be to scrap the recipe... and it contains a lot less calories.

I passed this recipe on to Nick at work and she loved it... and has made tons of them, but what made me laugh was that her family call them "Claire's Muffins". I'm not Delia (believe me I'm not!!!!), but its great to share recipes and see others enjoy them.

So dig out the favorite recipe and scrap it for generations to come x

Work has been busy so not too much on the crafting table this week but i did manage to finish this page, it was adapted from one of Karen's designs from scrap club on Wednesday and uses Delish designs papers, ribbons and metal embellishments....cant get enough of Delish right now their papers and embellishments are just beautiful!

Well I hope that everyone that has joined the blog hop this weekend had been totally inspired, and made some great stuff, and boy there were some fantastic projects... so many ideas so little time!!!

I hope you have saved some of that creative spark to have a go at this little project, I know we are at the bottom of the time table, but then you always save the best till last ! LOL !!!

So here is you penultimate project of the weekend.......

7 Gypsies Beer Mat Mini Book

I used

10 beer mats (found at the local pub!)

7 Gypsies 6x6 paper pad - Venice

7 Gypsies Gaffer Tape - Venice

7 Gypsies Paper Tape - Venice

Stickles - Cinnamon, Copper, Gunmetal

Paint Dabber - Mushroom

various Rub-ons

to embellish -File name holder, feather, a few Buttons, odd bits of ribbon

Place two mats side by side and cover with paper ensuring that the paper covers the join in the mats as this will form the hinge of the page. As my mats are 3.5" square and paper is only 6x6, I used the portion of the paper left over to cover the strip on the edge of each double page. The best glue for this is wet glue as it stiffens up the page when it drys, whatever glue you used it needs to cover the mat completely to avoid bubbles in the pages, Glue sticks work well too but you will use a lot of it!!

Repeat this for all the mats so that you now have 5 double pages covered one side. Tidy up the edges of each page, a piece of sandpaper works well for this.

Take two double pages and fold each in half, covered side to covered side. Now place these side by side with the hinge in the center and cover as before to join the pages together.

Repeat this step until all pages are hinged together, and all inside pages are covered.

When all inside pages are covered use the paint dabber to cover the edges of the pages, you can use an ink pad if you prefer, this will help to tidy up the edges and coordinate the pages in the book. Be careful not to stick the pages together with the paint!!!

For the front and back cover I layered the scraps that were left over from covering the pages of the book.

To strengthen the hinge cover the spine with Gaffer tape, using two lengths side by side and overlapping to give a wider strong bonding edge.

The book is now ready for you to embellish as you please and to fill with your journaling and photos.

I used 7 Gypsies paper tape, loads of rub-ons (all the odd bits left over from other projects) and stickles are great to add that bit of bling that every project needs !!

This book is all about my Aunt who is 70 later this year, and the photos of her life till now.... so what do you think she's getting for her birthday LOL!! I hope she likes it, and I hope you do too and feel inspired to have a go at making a beer mat book yourself, please leave a comment and a link to your project if you do have a go ...and most of all have fun xx

Catching up on some Christmas picks, I normally have to scratch around for Christmas photos but this year i seem to have buckets of them!!

For this double lay out I have used the new Delish Designs High Tea papers and made some fabric flowers using a naked flame and flammable fabric.... don't tel the Health and Safety Wombles !!!!!!

Hi there all, Ive been a bit slow on the blogging last week been feeling a bit sad as we lost one of the cats on Friday :O( came home from work and Cassie had passed away, i think she just went to sleep she looked very peaceful.

A Card !!!!

I haven't made a card for ages, so as I have had the whole day to craft thought I would have a go at one.

I used the most fantastic new product called Silkies, its a pearlesecent paint that can be mixed with other mediums. I picked up a sample at the trad show last week and convinced Steph to order some, So I hope everyone will love it as much as me ...if not !!

Hi all hope your all having a good weekend, its a bit wet and windy here today, and to top it all I have a streaming cold - so its a good day for craft !!

I have finished and written instructions for a class kit for Karen at Total Papercrafts today and been having a good play about with my melting pot ... or as hubby calls it " the cordron!"

I have made a lot of mess and a couple of pendents using some odds and ends knocking about in the draw - the only thing is the green sequins look a bit like freaky eyes!!!

Hi all , I still haven't caught up with the posting from the weekend as I have been sidetracked tweaking a page I finished at Stephs at the weekend....she told be to leave it but I have been naughty and added more bits !!!....don't tell her !!!!

have been playing with prima e-line flowers and a touch of Glimmer Mist ( but I must say we found a much better product at the show this weekend... so keep an eye out for that when in comes in)

And after being inspired by the lovely Suze Weinberg at the weekend I can feel a bit of a play with the melt pot coming on later today xx

And no Johnny this week!!! ... he is not talking to me as I went away and left him lol, did you notice the big buttons, they are the best business cards I have ever seen... they have etched on them the company details how fab is that !

Just got home and still unpacking! Had a fab fab fab weekend with Steph, Emma, and Nic at the Craft Hobbies and Stitches trade show... my feet are now killing me and I am totally beat

I was SO inspired by all the very creative demos, workshops and product samples, I promise I will post later today with photos and more but for now I need to chill out and soak my feet LOL!!

I spent the weekend in the fab company of Steph and her lovely children and we actually got some scrapping done !!!

I didn't actually get done the project that I took with me to do (one I have been meaning to do for nearly 2 years!!!) as we were distracted by all the beautiful stock that Steph had in the shop :O)

Well this weekend is the second round of the grand sort out in the craft room, a job I wish I never started!!!!!

Its not going to bad, I do at last feel like I'm making progress but still finding it hard to get rid of stuff... I may not of used it for 5 years but you know if you get rid you will want it next week!

now have a pile for nursery, pile for Bethany, pile for Nicky / activity club, and pile for e-bay

best sort out my piles then !!!!!!! LOL

but amongst all the chaos I did manage to finish the page I started on Wednesday at club

Wednesday once more!!! so soon!!! so here is my Wednesday work desk, not a great deal going on, I thought I best finish the mini book I started over a year ago, and i have been making my own magic mesh with plasterers tape and marker pens...you cant beat a bit of messiness!

Had a fab weekend, big thanks to Claire and Tracie for squeezing me in at the last min and under a false name!!!! Wanted to surprise Stef Marie and everyone and i think it worked! Stefs face was a picture as I arrived in Coventry yesterday morning for the crop... was a bit of a drive but was worth every mile xx

Last week I had a total disaster with Asda home delivery, I'm not going to go into it as it is a bit of a Victor Meldrew rant and I think I am in danger of turning into my dad !!!!.....BUT they cancelled my order and didn't let me know, then they said they would pick it and I could collect but when I tyred to do this they told me no-can-do as we have sent the pickers home - so I told them knickers and went to Salisbury's

So this week I went to Tesco online and all went to plan and shopping arrived on time - its not hard is it? Well it is if your Asda!!!!!!!!

I just love the Delish Designs papers and products, they always look very classic and suit so many different photo from heritage to modern. So loving the papers in this kit I thought it would be a good one for some of my wedding picks - and with some safmat I added a smoochy quote to finish off - ahrrr !!

to go with the marzipan fruits to send everyone into a diabetic coma this Christmas i have been making another family fave.

these chocolate biscuits / cakes are full of all the things that are not good for the figure! - Brown sugar, butter, treacle, chocolate....etc!!! and in our family it has always been named "Jimmy Young" not because its made from old radio 2 presenters!!! LOL but because that's where the recipe came from and no one wrote down the name of it!

and as i have been into cooking this week i also made a few Christmas muffins packed full of cranberries and blueberries - yummy x

Well Christmas has finally arrived at our little home, i have now put up the tree done some shopping (not all !!) and the wreath is on the door i admit i still have loads to do but am staring to feel a bit christmasy.

supposed to be out finishing the Christmas shopping today but the snow overnight may have put a stop to that - will have to see what the roads are like latter - fingers crossed.

Well I think today is the day to start to get a bit Christmassy!!! I have been a bar-Humbug up till now with the attitude that Christmas this year will be miserable... have now come to the conclusion that is i don't make the effort then YES it will be miserable!!!

SO...... today i will be making cards, marzipan fruits, making Christmas biscuits, and poss a Christmas layout or two! I will not be putting the tree up yet as I will get fed up with it by Christmas eve so i might do that at the end of the week, and to really kick off the Christmas season tonight i will be going to the Christmas party at church and tomorrow is the first carol concert of the season (pity the person standing next to me as i cant hold a tune in a bucket!!!!)

The good news is the kitchen is all finished (at last) and i t is great to be able to get back in there and do some cooking and as i now have twice the cupboards i had i can now have all the gadgets to hand - bring on the pasta maker LOL

and can you spot Johnny in the photo... he seams to have found a new place to sleep!

We also had i last scrap club of the year this week, along with the Christmas treats like sausage rolls and mice pies we had a bit of a scrap pass the parcel (well pass the page actually) we all started a page and then after a few mins we had to pass it on to the next person so we all had an impute on each others work!!!!!! we stuck to the theme of black white and read so it didn't get to scary... this is what my page looked like at the end of the evening, i will prob tweak it a bit and change a few things but it turned out not to bad really!

Well this weekend I have tons of work to catch up on, and really don't have any other time to do it...but I have rebelled and spent the day yesterday finishing off a couple of pages and faffing about as normal LOL

Well I now have to spend today with my head stuck in work till I am finished (prob midnight) oh well that's life!

The kitchen is still not finished and that's getting me down now, this is the third weekend with no kitchen and I have had he washing machine in the middle of the craft room all week so I couldn't get in there...withdrawal symptoms are setting in !

Hi there, being an extra good blogger this week to make up for the recent poor show !! LOL

Had a play with the fab new papers from Indigo mill the bright colours are not my normal choice so it was a bit out of the good old comfort zone...but that's good from time to time.

I couldn't work out what was not right with the photo of me, then hubby pointed out i had no glasses on. I just thought it was because I looked Young in the picture...LOL

I love the new CosmoCricket Earth Love papers that have come out recently. I already used some of the papers in a page a few weeks back, then at Karen's Club this month i completed a double page layout with them (page designed by Claire Fader - beautiful as ever Claire xx)

...and fellow Indigo Mill DT member Tracie ( big wave to Tracie !!!) also designed with these papers for another UKS cyber crop class, so i had to make this page too.

At last i have got some order back to the craft room, its been a week! also for the last 7 days i have had no kitchen but i can live with that but no craft room has been hell!

So having got back to normal (if only in one room) I managed to scan the pages I did last weekend for the cyber crop on UKS, did a few of the classes but didn't get to upload what with the kitchen and re-wire nightmare.

both these pages were classes on the cyber crop but i changed the colours to something that was more to my persona taste and went with the photos.

For the Handsome Cat page I used a mish mash of supplies : coordination's white wash for the base, Swiss dot bazzil, some MME laundry line and Daisy D's for the paper beads.

Proppa Funny was done with MME Laundry line plus a few scraps and the most gorgeous sparkly brads by Karen Foster Designs.

Thanks for looking and sorry for the craft famine that has been going on lately...normal service to resume shortly !! LOL xxx

Well i have been neglecting the blog a bit lately !!! Understatement!!!!!
Crafting time has been extremely limited with other lie stuff getting in the way as normal, but worse than that i have had my craft room taken over by the kitchen...yes the kitchen!

we are having a new fitted kitchen put in and it is a total nightmare. i have had no kitchen from last Friday and have little Chance of it being sorted until late next week. the walls have been knocked down, the boiler moved and the house has all be re-wired at the same time - bad planning!!!

so due to the building work i have things stacked in every room in the house and have had no heating all week (just as the weather gets cold - typical!!

i an missing my craft space and my pc as i cant get into my office / craft room and all my favorite stash is in the car as there is no room left in the house. BOY I NEED TO DO SOME CRAFTING need to relieve the stress

Some craft at last!!

At last i have managed to squeeze some time out to do a bit of crafting, its been ages!!!

What with work and life in general its been as mad as ever and i have just been craving time to sit and cut up paper!! last weekend was spent moving desks, cupboard and boxes as we moved offices, all moved in now and i must say that it was worth it, the new office is great.

Today i have been up at an obscene time for a Saturday and went to the dentist for an 8o'clock appointment! had more root treatment done and spent over 45 min in the dentist chair... just getting feeling back now.

We are getting a new kitchen fitted and i received a call yesterday to confirm when they are coming to start the work, to my complete shock they are coming in this coming Friday to gut my kitchen!!!!!!! they will be ripping everything out, re-wiring, knocking out walls and moving the boiler! i wont have a kitchen for over a week, and not to mention the fact that some time this week i have to empty the entire contents of the kitchen and find some non existent space to put it all for the duration!!!!! ... i am sure it will be worth it, but why next week!

so as i should be packing up the kitchen into boxes, and i really cant be doing with it today, i did this instead :O)

I used the Indigo Mill October kit "Harvest Moon" that i an ashamed to say i have only just taken out of the package x

As you may (or may not) know i am a no1 Wicked fan!!!! So when UKS set the theme for the cyber crop as the Wizard of Oz i had to sign up, i wasn't to sure as i have never done the cyber crop thing before but Steph gave me a prod in the right direction so i have signs up

i am in team TOTO ! hope to see you at the cyber crop x

Every year our church has a "Road Show" competition between all the local branches in the area, each branch has to write and perform a short play / skit in front of everyone and a panel of judges to compete for the prestigious title of Best Road Show !!!!!

and if you think that sounds mad you should see some of the shows! (bearing in mind that we only get a couple of weeks to write, cast, rehearse, make costumes and put on the show... all with a non existent budget and not very many willing volunteers- think school show in a rush.

Well this year we came second, and can i just say ...WE WERE ROBBED!!! we lost a couple of points on some very picky technicalities and lost by 2.5 points ....but we had fun and better luck next time ( watch out Ashford we'll beet you next year!)

so here are a few picks of the evening .... don't ask me to explain the plot (not to sure there was one LOL)

...oh and i have to mention that my little nice (who would never have made a ballet dancer!) had a part doing Irish dancing which she loves, and i could have cried she was so cute and the audience loved her, she was beaming with joy and lapping it all up ...arrrrr she is the one that looks like a strawberry in her bright red dress...go girl xxx

And yes that is a break dancing lobster!!!!!!!!!

And it is lush! I have made a couple of pages with it ( in between the mad moments!!) this one is for Karen's Club kit so she can chill out ( as if LOL) and get ready for her upcoming wedding.

The second one I made with the bits I had left over as I couldn't bear to put them in the scraps box.

The training seems to have paid off! Gary now has his blog up and running!!

He has called it Picture this and is using it to show his photography to the world as well as to have a good old fashioned moan up as well..LOL
